This Week's Musings...

Last week I spent two days in London having some hopefully rewarding meetings, watching Leeds United play superbly at Chelsea on the Wednesday night and observing how vibrant our capital city is.

Of course, many established restaurants and shops have closed down or changed hands, but there is a pulsating energy there that is unrivalled anywhere in the country.

People look busy, purposeful and energised and there is no doubt that being a capital city the pace of everything is quicker and more motivated.

Some days walking round Leeds, it has a feel of a sleepy village which of course it most certainly is not, but I can’t help wondering if sometimes we miss out on business living in the provinces.

Leeds has made some great strides particularly in the technology sector , but our road and transport infrastructure is not fit for purpose and the city centre crowded with often unused and extensive and expensive bike lanes makes driving around a miserable existence.

With the trains more and more unreliable and no flights to London anymore until our infrastructure improves, Leeds will never realise its full potential.

This weeks far far reaching plans may well look good but by the time they are watered down and come to fruition, most of us won’t be around to see them!
